8 Best Gorgias Alternatives for Shopify Stores (2026)
Gorgias bills per ticket and charges again for AI. We compared 8 alternatives on ticket pricing, AI cost, and Shopify fit, with live prices verified Nov 4, 2026.
The short answer: stay on Gorgias if your support is mostly order actions (refunds and edits) done inside Shopify and your ticket volume is steady. Switch if the per-ticket bill climbs faster than your team, if peak season makes the invoice unpredictable, or if paying for AI twice (once as an AI interaction, once as a ticket) stopped making sense. For most Shopify stores that want flat helpdesk pricing, SupportWire is $19 per seat with unlimited tickets and AI at $0.49 per resolution. For a closer ecommerce-native swap, look at Tidio, Richpanel or Re:amaze.
Gorgias is a good product built for one job: Shopify and ecommerce support. It pulls order data into the ticket and lets agents refund or edit an order without leaving the inbox. The catch is the meter. Gorgias does not price by seat, it prices by billable ticket, and its AI Agent is a second meter on top of that. The busier your store gets, the more you pay, and Black Friday is when you find out how much.
Below are 8 alternatives we compared on the three things that matter when you leave Gorgias: how they bill for volume, what their AI costs per conversation, and how well they fit a Shopify store. Prices were checked on each vendor's own pricing page, with the date next to every number. No affiliate links. For the full SupportWire head-to-head with a ticket-volume calculator, see Gorgias vs SupportWire.
The quick version:
- SupportWire - Best for flat pricing with unlimited tickets
- Tidio - Best for small Shopify stores that want chat and native Shopify actions
- Richpanel - Best ecommerce-native helpdesk with cheap per-conversation AI
- Re:amaze - Best per-member ecommerce helpdesk with AI resolutions included
- Zendesk - Best for large or multi-brand support operations
- Freshdesk - Best budget ticketing with SLAs
- Help Scout - Best for email-first teams
- Intercom - Best for funded teams that want Fin
How Gorgias pricing actually works#
Gorgias has four self-serve plans plus a custom Enterprise tier. Each plan bundles a ticket allowance, not a seat count. Verified on gorgias.com/pricing, Nov 4, 2026:
| Gorgias plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing (per month) | Tickets included | Overage per ticket | AI interactions in the AI bundle |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $10 | Not offered | 50 | $0.40 | 30 |
| Basic | $60 | $50 | 300 | $0.40 | 30 |
| Pro | $360 | $300 | 2,000 | $0.36 | 190 |
| Advanced | $900 | $750 | 5,000 | $0.36 | 530 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | 5,000+ | Not published | Not published |

Three details drive the real bill:
- A billable ticket is any conversation that gets a response from a human, a rule, or the AI Agent. An auto-reply from a rule is enough. A reply to an old thread can count again after a period of inactivity.
- AI is a second meter. The AI Agent allowance costs about $1.00 per automated interaction on monthly billing ($30 for 30 on Basic) or $0.90 on annual. Past the allowance, each interaction is $1.50. And every automated interaction also counts as a helpdesk ticket.
- Seats are not published per plan. Gorgias says the number of seats depends on the plan you choose. Ask before you size a team.
That model is fair for a big team with steady, low volume. It hurts a small team with spiky volume. We built a ticket slider for exactly this on the Gorgias vs SupportWire page, so we will not repeat the full breakdown here.
Gorgias vs alternatives at a glance#
| Tool | Base pricing | AI cost model | Shopify fit | Prices verified |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gorgias | $10 to $900/mo by ticket tier | AI bundle, $1.50 per interaction overage, each also counts as a ticket | Native order actions | Nov 4, 2026 |
| SupportWire | $19/seat/mo, unlimited tickets | $0.49 per resolution after 50 free; drafting and Copilot free | One-snippet install, AI reads your storefront | Oct 29, 2026 |
| Tidio | Starter $24.17/mo, Growth from $49.17/mo | Lyro add-on from $32.50/mo for 50 conversations | Native Shopify actions on Growth and up | Nov 4, 2026 |
| Richpanel | $99/seat/mo annual, $119 monthly | About $0.20 per AI conversation, $200/mo AI minimum | Ecommerce-native, order history in the ticket | Nov 4, 2026 |
| Re:amaze | $29 / $49 / $69 per member/mo ($26.10 / $44.10 / $62.10 annual) | 5 to 20 resolutions per user included, then $0.85 each | Shopify app available | Nov 4, 2026 |
| Zendesk | From $19/agent/mo; Suite from $55 | AI add-ons priced separately (Copilot $50/agent) | Marketplace apps | Oct 29, 2026 |
| Freshdesk | Growth $19, Pro $55, Enterprise $89 per agent/mo (annual) | 500 free AI sessions once, then $49 per 100 sessions | Marketplace apps | Nov 4, 2026 |
| Help Scout | $25 / $45 / $75 per user/mo | $0.75 per resolution | Integrations, not ecommerce-first | Oct 29, 2026 |
| Intercom | $29 / $85 / $132 per seat/mo (annual) | Fin at $0.99 per outcome | Integrations, not ecommerce-first | Oct 29, 2026 |
Per-seat helpdesks stop ticket volume from moving the base price. The AI meter is what you should compare next: per resolution (pay only when the AI closes the conversation), per conversation or session (pay whenever it engages), or a bundled allowance (prepay, then overage).
What a busy month costs: one worked example
Take a Shopify store with 3 agents, 1,500 tickets a month, and AI resolving 500 of them. List prices, monthly billing:
- Gorgias: Pro covers 1,500 tickets at $360. The Pro AI bundle is $190 for 190 interactions, and the other 310 cost $1.50 each, $465. Total: about $1,015 a month.
- SupportWire: 3 seats at $19 is $57. 450 billable resolutions (500 minus 50 free) at $0.49 is $220.50. Total: about $278 a month.
Your numbers will differ: Gorgias counts interactions, SupportWire counts resolutions, and annual billing lowers Gorgias. The shape holds, though. When tickets outgrow headcount, a ticket meter costs more than a seat.
Where Gorgias still wins#
Be honest about what you would give up.
- Order actions inside the ticket. Refund and edit Shopify orders without switching tabs. Most alternatives here answer order questions; fewer let an agent change the order from the inbox.
- Built for storefronts. Macros, rules and reporting assume orders, products and revenue. Support-driven revenue analytics is a real Gorgias feature on Pro.
- No seat math. A big team on low volume pays nothing extra per person.
- Ecosystem. Gorgias has a deep bench of ecommerce app integrations, built up over years in the Shopify world.
If most of your tickets end with an agent clicking "refund" in Shopify, Gorgias may still be the right tool, and the bill is the cost of that workflow.
Who should switch, and who should stay#
Switch if:
- Your ticket count grows faster than your team, or peak season blows up the invoice.
- You pay for AI interactions that then also count as tickets.
- Most of your volume is questions (where is my order, sizing, shipping, returns policy) rather than order edits.
- You also sell outside Shopify, or you support a SaaS product next to the store.
Stay if:
- Agents spend their day on order actions inside Shopify.
- Your volume is low and steady, and your team is large.
- You rely on Gorgias revenue reporting to justify support spend.
The 8 best Gorgias alternatives#
1. SupportWire
Best for: Shopify and ecommerce teams that want a flat helpdesk bill and AI that only costs money when it resolves.
SupportWire is a support platform with live chat, ticketing, a help center, and Kal, an AI agent that answers from your own content. Full disclosure: we built it, so weigh this entry accordingly.
What stands out:
- No ticket meter. $19 per seat with unlimited tickets. A sale weekend changes your workload, not your base bill.
- AI billed per resolution. $0.49 per resolved conversation after 50 free a month, with no AI conversation caps. Drafting and Copilot for agents are free.
- Shopify install in one snippet. Kal indexes your storefront and policy pages, so it handles where is my order, sizing, shipping and returns questions. See SupportWire for Shopify and our ecommerce overview.
Where it falls short vs Gorgias: SupportWire answers order questions from your content and policies; it is not an order-editing console. If your agents refund and edit Shopify orders all day from the inbox, Gorgias is deeper there.
Pricing: $19/seat/month, unlimited tickets, $0.49 per AI resolution after 50 free (verified Oct 29, 2026). Full details on pricing.

2. Tidio
Best for: small Shopify stores that want live chat, an AI chatbot and native Shopify actions without an enterprise helpdesk.
Tidio is chat-first and built with small online stores in mind. Its Lyro AI agent answers from your FAQ content.
What stands out:
- Native Shopify actions on Growth, Plus and Premium (not on Free or Starter).
- Low entry price. A free plan with 50 conversations, and paid plans from $24.17 a month.
- Lyro AI with a small free allowance to test it.
Where it falls short: Plans count billable conversations, so volume still matters, just in a different unit. Lyro is a separate add-on from $32.50 a month for 50 conversations, which works out to about $0.65 per conversation at that tier. Reporting and SLA tooling are lighter than a full helpdesk.
Pricing (verified Nov 4, 2026): Free, Starter $24.17/mo (100 conversations), Growth from $49.17/mo, Plus from $300/mo plus usage, Premium on request. Prices as displayed on tidio.com/pricing, where annual billing is advertised as two months free. See more AI chatbots in our best AI chatbots for customer support roundup.
3. Richpanel
Best for: ecommerce brands that want a Gorgias-like helpdesk on seat pricing with cheap per-conversation AI.
Richpanel is the closest like-for-like swap on this list. It is built for ecommerce support, with customer and order history next to the ticket, order and subscription updates, and a returns add-on.
What stands out:
- Seat pricing, so ticket volume does not move the helpdesk bill.
- Low AI unit price, about $0.20 per AI-handled conversation, where a whole thread counts once.
- Returns and exchanges add-on for stores with heavy return volume.
Where it falls short: The seat price is high at $99 per seat on annual billing, and AI has a $200 monthly minimum. One seat plus AI starts at $299 a month annually. The pricing page does not spell out Shopify-specific details, so confirm your stack in a demo.
Pricing (verified Nov 4, 2026): $99/seat/mo annual or $119 monthly. AI about $0.20 per conversation, $200/mo minimum. Returns and Exchanges from $99/mo.
4. Re:amaze
Best for: small and mid-size stores that want an ecommerce-friendly helpdesk with predictable per-member pricing.
Re:amaze is a shared inbox, live chat and help center that has long served online stores, with a Shopify app listed on its pricing page.
What stands out:
- Per-member pricing with AI resolutions included on every plan: 5, 10 or 20 per user per month by tier.
- Flat Starter plan at $59 a month for unlimited team members, capped at 500 responded conversations.
- $0.85 per extra AI resolution, billed per resolution rather than per interaction.
Where it falls short: The included AI allowance is small, so busy stores will pay the $0.85 rate on most AI work, which is above SupportWire and Help Scout. The Starter plan's conversation cap brings back a volume ceiling.
Pricing (verified Nov 4, 2026): Basic $29, Pro $49, Plus $69 per team member per month ($26.10, $44.10, $62.10 on annual billing). Starter $59/mo flat.
5. Zendesk
Best for: large or multi-brand operations that need structured ticketing, SLAs and a huge app marketplace.
Zendesk is the enterprise default. If Gorgias feels too narrow because you run several storefronts, a wholesale channel and a phone queue, Zendesk covers all of it.
What stands out: Mature ticketing, triggers and SLA policies, omnichannel including voice, and a marketplace with ecommerce apps for Shopify order data.
Where it falls short: Setup takes real effort, the plan ladder is long, and AI is priced on top of seats. Ecommerce context comes from apps rather than being the core of the product.
Pricing (verified Oct 29, 2026): from $19/agent/mo, Suite Team $55, Suite Professional $115. Copilot is a $50/agent add-on. More options for smaller teams in our Zendesk alternatives for small business. Compare Zendesk vs SupportWire.
6. Freshdesk
Best for: budget-conscious teams that want real ticketing, SLAs and automations on seat pricing.
Freshdesk gives you a structured helpdesk with SLA policies, automations and an AI agent called Freddy.
What stands out: Low per-agent entry price, solid ticketing and SLA tooling, and a marketplace with ecommerce integrations.
Where it falls short: Freddy AI Agent is priced per session, not per resolution: 500 free sessions once per account, then $49 per 100 sessions. You pay when the AI engages, whether or not it resolves. Many advanced features sit on Pro and up.
Pricing (verified Nov 4, 2026): Growth $19, Pro $55, Enterprise $89 per agent per month on annual billing. Compare Freshdesk vs SupportWire.
7. Help Scout
Best for: email-first teams that want a calm shared inbox and a good knowledge base.
Help Scout is a clean shared inbox with Docs and the Beacon widget. It is not ecommerce-first, but plenty of DTC brands run on it because their support is mostly email.
What stands out: A fast, simple inbox, a strong help center, and AI billed per resolution.
Where it falls short: No native Shopify order actions, no phone, and key integrations sit on higher plans. AI resolutions cost $0.75 each.
Pricing (verified Oct 29, 2026): $25, $45 or $75 per user per month, AI at $0.75 per resolution. Full breakdown in our Help Scout pricing guide. Compare Help Scout vs SupportWire.
8. Intercom
Best for: funded teams that want the most polished messenger and are fine paying for Fin.
Intercom has a polished messenger, strong workflows, and Fin, one of the most capable AI agents on the market.
What stands out: Fin's resolution quality, proactive messaging, and deep workflow automation.
Where it falls short: It is built for software companies more than storefronts, and the bill adds up fast: seats plus $0.99 per Fin outcome. More detail in our Intercom pricing explainer.
Pricing (verified Oct 29, 2026): Essential $29, Advanced $85, Expert $132 per seat per month on annual billing ($39, $99, $139 monthly). Fin at $0.99 per outcome. Compare Intercom vs SupportWire.
AI cost models, side by side#
The AI meter is now a bigger line item than seats for many stores. Here is how each tool counts it:
| Tool | What you pay for | Unit price | Charged when the AI fails? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gorgias | Automated interactions (bundle, then overage) | About $0.90 to $1.00 in the bundle, $1.50 overage | Each automated interaction counts, and also counts as a ticket |
| SupportWire | Resolutions | $0.49 after 50 free a month | No |
| Tidio Lyro | Conversations (add-on tiers) | From $32.50/mo for 50 | Counted per conversation |
| Richpanel | AI-handled conversations | About $0.20, $200/mo minimum | Counted per conversation |
| Re:amaze | Resolutions beyond the included allowance | $0.85 | No |
| Freshdesk Freddy | Sessions | $49 per 100 after 500 free | Counted per session |
| Help Scout | Resolutions | $0.75 | No |
| Intercom Fin | Outcomes | $0.99 | Per Intercom's outcome definition |
Per-resolution pricing ties what you pay to what the AI actually closed. Per-conversation or per-session pricing can look cheaper per unit, so check how often the AI hands off before you compare.
Migration checklist: leaving Gorgias#
- Export your data first. Pull tickets, customers, macros and tags from Gorgias before you cancel, and check how far back the export goes.
- Map macros to saved replies. Your top 20 macros cover most volume. Rebuild those, skip the rest.
- Feed the new AI your policies. Shipping, returns, sizing and order-status pages are what the AI will answer from. Fix gaps there first.
- Decide what happens to order actions. If agents refund and edit orders today, pick a tool with native actions, or keep that step in the Shopify admin.
- Swap the chat widget in your Shopify theme and re-point your support email forwarding.
- Run both for a week around a normal sales period, then cut over before your next peak, not during it.
- Check your Gorgias renewal date so an annual plan does not auto-renew mid-migration.
So which one should you pick?#
- Per-ticket billing is the problem: SupportWire, for $19 a seat with unlimited tickets and $0.49 AI resolutions.
- Small Shopify store, chat-first: Tidio, on Growth if you need native Shopify actions.
- You want Gorgias, but on seats: Richpanel, if you can carry the $99 seat and $200 AI minimum, or Re:amaze for a lower per-member price.
- Multi-brand, enterprise ops: Zendesk.
- Budget ticketing with SLAs: Freshdesk.
- Email-first DTC brand: Help Scout.
- You want Fin and have the budget: Intercom.
Whatever you pick, model your busiest month, not your average one. That is where per-ticket pricing and AI overage show up. Frequently asked questions
It depends on why you are leaving. If the per-ticket bill is the problem, SupportWire charges $19 per seat with unlimited tickets and $0.49 per AI resolution. If you want a small-store chat tool with native Shopify actions, Tidio Growth includes them. If you want another ecommerce-first helpdesk with deep order context, Richpanel and Re:amaze are the closest like-for-like swaps. If you need enterprise ticketing, Zendesk.
Gorgias prices by billable tickets, not seats. As of Nov 4, 2026, Starter is $10 a month for 50 tickets (monthly only), Basic is $60 a month ($50 annual) for 300, Pro is $360 ($300 annual) for 2,000, and Advanced is $900 ($750 annual) for 5,000. Extra tickets cost $0.40 on Starter and Basic and $0.36 on Pro and Advanced. AI Agent is a separate allowance on top, with overage at $1.50 per automated interaction.
Per Gorgias's pricing page, a conversation becomes billable once it gets a response from a human agent, a rule, or the AI Agent, however many messages follow. A reply to an old thread can count as a new billable ticket after a period of inactivity. Each AI automated interaction also counts as a helpdesk ticket, so AI usage hits both meters.
Yes. SupportWire, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Help Scout, Intercom, Richpanel and Re:amaze all price the helpdesk per seat or per team member, so ticket volume does not raise the base bill. AI is metered separately on most of them, so compare the AI unit price too: SupportWire is $0.49 per resolution, Help Scout $0.75, Re:amaze $0.85 after its included resolutions, and Intercom Fin $0.99.
You lose Gorgias's native order actions (refunds and edits from inside the ticket) unless your new tool has an equivalent. Tidio includes native Shopify actions on Growth and above. SupportWire installs on Shopify with one snippet and answers order, shipping and return questions from your store content and policies, but it is not an order-editing console. Export your ticket history before you cancel either way.
Sometimes. A large team with low ticket volume can come out ahead on Gorgias, because seats are not the price driver. A small team with heavy volume, or a store with seasonal spikes, usually pays more, because every billable ticket and every AI interaction is metered. Run your own numbers on the ticket slider at our Gorgias comparison page.
