7 Best Tidio Alternatives (2026): AI Costs Compared
Tidio bills Lyro AI per conversation it touches, not per problem it solves. We compared 7 Tidio alternatives on AI cost model, real pricing and where Tidio still wins.
The short answer: stay on Tidio if you are a small store with steady traffic, up to 10 agents and light AI use, because Tidio never charges per seat on its self-serve plans. Switch if your Lyro bill climbs faster than your resolutions, your chat volume swings with sales, or you are about to cross the 10-seat or 2,000-conversation line into Plus at $300 a month plus usage.
Tidio is one of the friendliest ways to put a chat widget and an AI agent on a small store. The free plan is usable, setup takes minutes, and the Shopify and WooCommerce integrations are solid. The catch is how it bills: three separate meters (human conversations, Lyro AI conversations and Flows visitors), and Lyro is charged for every conversation it replies in, whether or not it solves anything. We break every number down in our Tidio pricing guide, so this page only repeats prices where they help the comparison.
Here are seven alternatives, what each does better than Tidio, and where each is worse. No affiliate links. For a wider vendor map, start at our alternatives hub.
The quick version:

- Gorgias - Best for Shopify stores at scale

- Crisp - Best flat workspace pricing
- Zendesk - Best for enterprise operations

How the AI cost models differ
This is the part most comparison pages skip, and it is the reason most teams leave Tidio.
- Per AI conversation (Tidio). You pay when the AI replies, not when it helps. If the customer still asks for a human, you paid for the AI and the human conversation.
- Per resolution or outcome (SupportWire, Intercom, Help Scout, Zendesk). You pay only when the AI closes the conversation. The definition of "resolved" matters, so read it: SupportWire counts a resolution when the customer confirms it or stays quiet for 24 hours after a real answer, and never charges for a handoff.
- Per automated interaction (Gorgias). Close to per resolution, but priced at $0.90 to $1.00 with $1.50 overage above your plan's included interactions.
- Bundled credits (Crisp). A fixed AI budget per plan. Predictable, but when the credits run out you need more.
A quick way to compare: divide the per-conversation price by your real AI resolution rate. Lyro at $0.70 per conversation and a 50% resolution rate is $1.40 per resolution, more than Intercom Fin.
1. SupportWire

Source: SupportWire pricing page, captured Nov 4, 2026.
SupportWire is an AI-native help desk: live chat, email, a shared inbox and Kal, the AI agent, on one plan. We built it, so weigh this entry accordingly.
What stands out:
- AI billed on results. $0.49 per resolution, the first 50 each month included, handoffs never charged.
- Drafting and Copilot are free. No AI conversation caps, no credit budget to run out of.
- One plan. $19 per seat per month, everything included, unlimited free lite seats. See pricing.
How it beats Tidio: you stop paying for AI replies that did not help. A Tidio store paying $140 a month for 200 Lyro conversations would pay at most $73.50 on SupportWire if all 200 were resolved, and less if they were not.
Where Tidio still wins: Tidio does not charge per seat on self-serve plans, so a 10-agent team with low volume pays less on Tidio. Tidio's Shopify and WooCommerce integrations are also a core strength, so check that your store workflows are covered before you switch.
2. Intercom
Intercom has the most capable AI agent in the category, Fin, and a messenger built for product-led companies.
What stands out: Fin's resolution quality, deep workflows, product tours and outbound messaging.
How it beats Tidio: better AI on hard questions, a far deeper workflow builder, and Fin bills per outcome, not per reply.
Where it falls short: price. Essential lists at $29 per seat per month on annual billing (Advanced $85, Expert $132), Fin is $0.99 per outcome on top, and Copilot is $29 to $35 per agent. A small store moving from Tidio will usually pay several times more. Model it in the Intercom pricing calculator, or see Intercom vs SupportWire.
3. Gorgias
Gorgias is the help desk most Shopify brands graduate to when Tidio gets small.
What stands out: order actions inside the ticket (refunds, edits, cancellations), strong Shopify data in the sidebar, and an AI Agent tuned for ecommerce questions.
How it beats Tidio: deeper ecommerce actions and reporting for stores doing real volume.
Where it falls short: it is ticket-metered too. Basic is $60 a month on monthly billing for 300 tickets, Pro is $360 a month for 2,000, and extra tickets are $0.36 to $0.40 each. AI Agent interactions are $0.90 to $1.00 each, with $1.50 overage. It is also an ecommerce tool first; SaaS teams will find it narrow. More in Gorgias vs SupportWire.
4. Help Scout
Help Scout is a calm shared inbox with a good knowledge base and live chat.
What stands out: email handling, Docs, and an AI agent billed at $0.75 per resolution with a monthly spending cap.
How it beats Tidio: a real email-first help desk, per-resolution AI, and predictable per-user pricing that does not move with traffic.
Where it falls short: per-user pricing ($25, $45 or $75 on annual billing) adds up fast for a team that was paying Tidio nothing per seat, and chat is not its center of gravity. Full numbers in Help Scout pricing, and see Help Scout vs SupportWire.
5. Crisp
Crisp is the closest thing to Tidio's model with a flat workspace price instead of conversation meters.
What stands out: a well-designed widget, a usable free plan for 2 seats, and plans priced per workspace: Mini $45 (4 seats), Essentials $95 (10 seats), Plus $295 (20+ seats) a month.
How it beats Tidio: no human-conversation meter, so a busy month does not change the bill. Each paid plan includes AI credits (Crisp estimates about 90, 450 and 1,350 automated conversations).
Where it falls short: Crisp does not publish a price for AI usage beyond the included credits, and extra seats are $10 each. We cover the rest in best Crisp alternatives and Crisp vs SupportWire.
6. Zendesk
Zendesk is the full enterprise stack: ticketing, voice, workforce tooling and a large app marketplace.
What stands out: routing, SLAs, reporting and integrations at any scale.
How it beats Tidio: far deeper routing, SLAs and reporting than Tidio's self-serve plans, built for large teams.
Where it falls short: cost and setup time. Suite Team is $55 and Suite Professional $115 per agent per month on annual billing ($69 and $149 monthly). Automated resolutions are $2.00 each on pay-as-you-go beyond the 5 or 10 per agent included, and Copilot is $50 per agent. Overkill for a small store. See Zendesk vs SupportWire.
7. Tawk.to
Tawk.to is free live chat with paid extras.
What stands out: the core live chat product is free.
How it beats Tidio: if your only need is a chat box, you pay nothing as volume grows.
Where it falls short: the AI. AI Assist is an add-on from $29 a month, removing the "Powered by tawk.to" branding is $29 a month, and you trade polish for price. Fine for a budget, not for automation.
Who should switch, and who should stay#
Stay on Tidio if:
- You have 10 or fewer agents and fewer than 2,000 human conversations a month.
- Your traffic is steady, so the conversation meters do not surprise you.
- Lyro handles a small share of chats, or the free 50 is enough.
Switch if:
- Your Lyro bill grows but your resolution rate does not. You are paying for replies, not results.
- Chat volume spikes with promotions and the Growth tier jumps with it ($179 to $349 a month going from 1,000 to 2,000 conversations on monthly billing).
- You need more than 10 seats, SSO, or departments, which means Plus or Premium on a quote.
- You support a SaaS product, not a store, and need email, tickets and a knowledge base that are more than add-ons to chat.
Migration checklist#
- Export first. Download contacts and recent conversation history from Tidio before you cancel.
- Move your knowledge. Collect the FAQ, help pages and URLs Lyro learned from and load them into the new tool's knowledge base.
- Rebuild only the Flows you use. Check which Flows actually fire, recreate those as automations, drop the rest.
- Swap the widget. Replace the Tidio script (or Shopify app) with the new widget, and test on mobile.
- Reconnect your store. Install the Shopify or WooCommerce integration so agents see orders in the conversation.
- Run both for a week. Keep Tidio on a low plan until the new inbox is handling real traffic, then downgrade to Free.
- Measure AI on resolutions. Track how many conversations the new AI actually closes. That is the number your bill should follow.
So which one should you pick?#
If the Lyro bill is why you are leaving: SupportWire. AI billed at $0.49 only when it resolves, first 50 a month included.
If you want the strongest AI and have the budget: Intercom Fin.
If you are a growing Shopify brand: Gorgias.
If you are email-first: Help Scout.
If you want one flat price per team: Crisp.
If you need enterprise operations: Zendesk.
If it has to be free: Tawk.to.
Whatever you pick, compare tools on cost per resolved conversation, not cost per conversation. For Tidio's full plan and Lyro numbers, see the Tidio pricing guide. For more comparisons, see the alternatives hub, best Help Scout alternatives and AI customer support cost.
Frequently asked questions
It depends on why you are leaving. If the Lyro bill is the problem, SupportWire charges $0.49 only when the AI resolves a ticket, with the first 50 each month included. If you run a Shopify store at scale, Gorgias is built for that. If you want the strongest AI and have the budget, Intercom Fin. If it has to be free, Tawk.to.
Mostly the meters. Tidio charges by human conversations, Lyro AI conversations and Flows visitors separately, so the bill moves with traffic. Lyro is charged for every conversation it replies in, solved or not. Self-serve plans also stop at 10 seats and 2,000 billable conversations, after which Plus starts at $300 a month plus usage.
As of November 4, 2026, Tidio Starter is $29 a month and Growth starts at $59 a month on monthly billing, with Lyro AI from $39 a month for 50 AI conversations. The full plan and Lyro breakdown is in our Tidio pricing guide.
Yes. SupportWire charges $0.49 per resolution, Intercom Fin $0.99 per outcome, Help Scout $0.75 per resolution and Zendesk $2.00 per automated resolution on pay-as-you-go (all verified Nov 4, 2026). Tidio only offers pay-per-resolution on its quote-only Premium plan.
Stay if you are a small store with up to 10 agents, under 2,000 human conversations a month, steady traffic and light AI use. Tidio never charges per seat on its self-serve plans, so a large team with low volume can be cheaper on Tidio than on any per-seat tool.
For most small teams it takes a day or two. The work is swapping the chat widget script, moving your FAQ and help content into the new tool's knowledge base, rebuilding a handful of Flows as automations, and reconnecting Shopify or WooCommerce. Export contacts and recent conversation history first.
